Targeting the excessive economic costs andloss of embodied energy in traditional anddigitally fabricated in situ concrete formwork, this poster presents a series of material studiesinvestigating the weaving of an adaptivecable network into tensile formwork. Inspiredby Frei Otto’s cable net structures, the fabricformwork studies by Mark West at CAST, andthe soft use of digital fabrication by WilliamMassie, this work aims to engage site responsivedesign strategies by creating an assemblysystem that embraces the complexity andvariation possible when casting concrete.Through a series of phases, these objectivesare accomplished by developing a logic ofassembly, testing the assembly for limitationsthrough parametric and physical modeling, analyzing the resulting form, and thencomparing the results with other methods ofassembly.
